This cheeky sparrow moves its head and opens its beak, occasionally fluttering its wings.
A limited series of eight. All parts are made in my workshop in Cambridge.
This edition is made from solid walnut and American cherry, giving each piece warmth and character. I use brass and Delrin for selected mechanical parts to ensure smooth, durable movement.
Each sparrow is finished with gesso, acrylic paint, and several coats of varnish. Gloss and dead-flat finishes are used where they best suit the detail. The result is a small sculpture made to be enjoyed both at rest and in motion.
The automaton stands 6 inches (15cms) high
