Sid Embraces Anarchism

My Image

This automaton is constructed entirely from beech wood, lime wood and brass with a boxwood crank handle.
Brass is used in all the axles for maximum consistency of the movement.
All pieces have been painstakingly designed and cnc milled for accuracy and repeatability. 3D design of organic figures is a time-consuming and complex procedure but the results are well worth it. All mechanical parts are either brass of made from sandwiched layers of beech for strength. It has a 12 turn cycle.
The figures are finished with 2 coats of gesso, acrylic paint and lacquer.
This is a very smooth running automaton that utilises a geneva wheel for a precise mechanism.

Height 25cms, depth 12cms
